Volunteer Opportunities
Special Olympics Louisiana would not exist today without the expertise, time, and enthusiasm of its volunteers. They are on the field guiding the athletes through drills. They are behind the scenes ensuring events run smoothly. Best of all, they are giving and getting more high-fives and hugs than they can count.

FAQ & Resources
- Area Management Team members provide the leadership and planning for the Special Olympics Louisiana’s organization at the grassroots level. The local team is the foundation of our worldwide movement and the starting point for each athlete’s participation. This team engages with the public to provide sports training, competition opportunities, and related activities. This grassroots level is where communities of inclusion are built. A criminal background check, Protective Behaviors Training, and Concussion Training are part of the registration process for all Class A volunteers. - Class B: Individuals who are day-of-event volunteers with no athlete supervisory responsibilities. Class B Volunteers typically pre-register for a particular event, and then fill out the Class B form upon arrival at the venue to volunteer. Please be prepared to show a photo ID when registering
